Philips Hue Lightstrip Hardwired Controller vs Detachable Controller: Which Version do I have?

Looking to extend the distance between your Philips Hue Controller and Starter Lightstrip? You’ll need to identify which controller version you have first. Recently, Philips Hue updated their controller design, leaving you to figure out which version you have. This post will help you identify your version!

Our Controller to 6-pin Adapters are specifically designed for the Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus system, which allows for any Litcessory product or a Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus Extension to be connected directly to the controller.

Identify your Philips Hue Lightstrip Controller Version

There are two versions of the Controller to 6-Pin Adapter, a hardwired version and a detachable version. Identify which version your setup requires by looking at your Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus Controller.

Hardwired or Detached Controller Comparison

These adapters solve the issue created by the starter lightstrip either being directly attached to the controller (the Hardwired Version) or the issue created by the controller’s connector size being smaller than any Litcessory product or a Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus Extension (the Detachable Version).

Detachable Controller to 6-Pin Adapter Setup

One adapter connects to the controller and the other attaches to the starter lightstrip. Once both adapters are attached, it will provide a 6-pin connection between the controller and the starter lightstrip that can be used to attach any Litcessory product or a Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus Extension.

When using the detachable version, it is as easy as unplugging the starter lightstrip and plugging in our Detachable Controller to 6-Pin Adapter.

If you have the Hardwired Controller, the idea is the same. You will just need to take a few more easy steps to complete this setup. Mainly, cutting the hardwire between the controller and the Starter Lightstrip and reconnecting the wires to the Controller to 6-Pin Adapter (Hardwired Version).
